Oni is a third-person 3D action/adventure that emphasizes hand-to-hand combat as well as gunplay. Oni is inspired by anime classics like Ghost in the Shell and action thrillers like La Femme Nikita.
Set in the year 2032, you play Konoko, an elite agent on a quest to infiltrate and destroy a ruthless crime syndicate. As Konoko, you'll fight through levels designed by architects, including a monstrous underground research facility and a towering 15-story police station. As the game progresses you'll discover terrible secrets of the underworld, the frailty of your own identity, and, most important, that there's no one you can trust.
Oni's engine supports huge, multi-elevation indoor and outdoor environments, radiosity lighting, interpolated character animation, a preconditioned, constrained neural net AI that works together and exhibits emergent behavior (real cool), motion blur, gunplay, hand-to-hand combat, and more.
Oni's gameplay is an even combination of shooting and fighting; it's what we like to call "full contact action." This means you can empty your clip into a pack of opponents, then take out the survivors with flying kicks and neck-snapping throws. The game takes place in a number of huge, realistic environments unlike anything you've seen before. Missions can be completed through stealth or, if you've got enough of it, through brawn. Most players will use a combination of both.
